What actually drives the price
- Load count — every switched or dimmed circuit is a device. A 4,000 sq ft home might have 60–100 loads; an estate can have several hundred.
- Keypads vs. apps — engraved keypads at every entry are what make a system feel effortless, and they're a real per-room line item.
- Fixture strategy — controlling existing fixtures costs far less than specifying tunable LED fixtures throughout, which is where Ultra budgets live.
- Panelized vs. in-wall — estates often centralize dimming in panels, which adds equipment but removes wall clutter and improves reliability.
- New construction vs. retrofit — pulling new switch legs through finished walls is the single most labor-intensive retrofit in the industry; lighting carries the largest retrofit premium of any system we install.
Lutron, Crestron, or both?
